I am thrilled to begin my senior year at Ithaca College after an exciting summer internship at Channel 8 WROC-TV in Rochester, where I wrote content for newscasts and the web and assisted producers, photogs and reporters. I was recently named a Syracuse Press Club Student Radio News Story Award finalist, a Roy H. Park School of Communications Student Writing Award winner and a recipient of the Peggy R. Williams Award for Academic and Community Leadership.

This year, I am a Department of Journalism teaching assistant and a WICB Radio newscaster and correspondent. I am continuing my involvement with The Ithacan newspaper as a staff photographer to pursue my passion for photojournalism. I am participating in the Beverly J. Martin Elementary group service project, working with local students on interactive arts and crafts activities. I am engaging in individual service at WRFI Community Radio, reporting on the allocation of resources to Tompkins County colleges and universities.

I am truly grateful for these opportunities to hone my media skills and serve amazing community organizations!

I am incredibly honored and excited to join the Park Scholar community as a recipient of the Rising Junior Award! I spent my summer interning remotely with National Public Radio member station WBFO in Buffalo, where I produced news content about the Black Lives Matter movement and the local impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. I was also a member of WICB Radio’s summer reporting series, covering Cornell University’s divestment and the fall outlook for the Ithaca economy.

This semester, I am continuing my involvement with The Ithacan newspaper as proofreader to ensure that the paper is accessible to all readers. I am co-leading WRFI Community Radio’s “Which Way Forward” group service project, which will explore how community stakeholders are changing the form and practice of policing in Tompkins County. I am thrilled to engage in individual service at a food preparation program in Batavia, New York, that combats food insecurity by distributing free meals to local students. I am truly grateful for these opportunities to hone my media skills and serve amazing community organizations!
