Annual School and Departmental Awards

Dean's Award

This award is given to a senior occupational therapy student who has maintained the highest GPA over the course of their occupational science program.

Departmental Awards

The following awards are given out at the HSHP Awards Ceremony in May. Students and faculty members are asked to nominate students for these honors. Occupational therapy faculty members make final decisions based on a review of the nominations. The awards are granted on an "as merited" basis and all are not necessarily awarded each year.

Undergraduate Awards
Catherine Y.  Gordon Leadership Award
This award is given to the student who demonstrates leadership through individual efforts within the college, school and/or department. This awardee must pursue academic excellence, leadership in organizations, and be a role model to peers.

Carole Dennis White Research Award
This award is given to a student who exhibits exceptional research skills during their undergraduate career. The student contributes to the evidence base in occupational therapy through dissemination of scholarly works. The student demonstrates strong skills in research collaboration and embodies the scholarly attitude of a future clinical scholar.

Award for Creative and Innovative Thought
This award is given to a student who demonstrates creativity and innovation through the expression of ideas or actions that serve to challenge or broaden traditional views of occupational therapy and occupational therapy education.

Service Award
This award is given to a student who demonstrates exceptional service to the college and community as demonstrated by volunteer and leadership activities college-wide, and in community.

Commitment Award
This award is given to a student who demonstrates commitment to the profession of occupational therapy in the community, and on campus

Graduate Awards
Professional Excellence Award
This award is given to a student who the occupational therapy department faculty believes will be an excellent representative of the program in the professional community of occupational therapy. The student may do this through their clinical work, their research, interdisciplinary projects, experiential learning, or through their work in the professional or local community.

Professional Development Award
This award is presented to a student who demonstrated exceptional growth professionally and personally through clinical work, scholarship, or service.
