Recorded Audition and Virtual Interview Tips

Guidelines for recorded audition:

  • Students are encouraged to use standard technology/recording devices that are available to them (smartphones, tablets, etc.)
  • Your media should start with a slate (introduction). The proper slate is to share your name , the degree for which you are applying, and your song titles.
  • Please film your media in landscape format, ensuring that at least your upper body is in the frame and that your face is clearly visible.
  • We do not recommend submitting videos of live productions such as musical theatre shows unless they meet the requirements above and if you are alone on stage.

Guidelines for Virtual Interview:

  • Before your virtual interview day, make sure you have installed/updated Zoom. For more information, please see here.
  • While this is a formal audition or interview, at IC we make sure that this is a friendly and welcoming process. When it is your interview time and you enter the Zoom room, please make sure that you can hear the faculty and that the faculty can hear you clearly before you begin. You are allowed (and encouraged) to greet the faculty in your audition room once you enter.
  • Remember, we want you to succeed! We are excited to meet you and want you to do your very best!
