We would like to call your attention to several high-level updates from the campus wide move-in committee and the Office of Residential Life to help in your planning and preparations for Fall 2022 Move-In.
Supporting the fall move-in process by working collaboratively as campus partners is so critical to fostering a smooth and seamless move-in process. By working together we create a supportive and welcoming environment for our arriving new and returning students and truly lay the foundation for the semester ahead. To that end, we hope you will keep the following information in mind as your offices and departments plan for student arrivals this fall.
Volunteer to Support Move-In!
A successful move-in process would not be possible without the help of our dedicated volunteer team and we would greatly appreciate if you are able to lend your support! The recruitment process to fill out our Fall 2022 Move-In Crew is already underway.
Move-In Crew volunteers can expect roles that include meeting students as they arrive at the residence halls, assisting them by unloading their vehicles, and delivering items to their rooms. Not only is this an immense help to the student, but it is also an important step in keeping our parking lots from getting too congested.
Consider taking part in this vital service to our arriving students and their families by signing up for shifts during the week of August 14-20. We ask all interested parties to complete the Fall 2022 Move-In Crew Registration Form. Once registration closes you will be contacted to sign up for specific shifts that work within the constraints of your schedule.

Fall Move-In Dates
The campus wide move in committee has identified the following key dates during which our Fall 2022 Move-In process will take place. Official move-in hours will take place between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on the below dates:
- Tuesday, Aug. 9 | Essential Student Employees (OLs, Dining, IT, Mail Services, SASP, SHELs)
- Sunday, Aug. 14 | Early Arrivals – Day 1 (student employees, Jump Start, student-athletes)
- Monday, Aug. 15 | Early Arrivals – Day 2
- Tuesday, Aug. 16 | Move-In for First Year Students
- Friday, Aug. 19 | Move-In for Transfer and Returning Upper Year Students – Day 1
- Saturday, Aug. 20 | Move-In for Returning Upper Year Students – Day 2
Please note that these dates were intentionally selected with a variety of internal and external factors in mind. Internally, taking into account the staffing resources in offices that support essential college operations, student-athlete preseason, and critical pre-semester programs such as orientation and Jump Start. Externally, also coinciding with Ithaca College’s wider efforts to be a collaborative community partner to limit traffic and other stresses on resources in our South Hill and greater Ithaca communities.
In an effort to ensure that the Office of Residential Life is able to provide full support to each and every student, we ask that all offices and departments match move-in expectations and needs within the structure of the above dates.
Please be on the lookout for a message with further details on how to request early arrival for students involved in employment or participation in pre-semester programs to be posted to Intercom in June. The form will go live in IC Workflow on Monday, June 27.

Move-In Process Updates
As has been the case throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Residential Life has modified its move-in process to accommodate for appropriate health and safety needs and precautions. However, at this time, we anticipate that the move-in process will return to the majority of its pre-pandemic structure for all students. Most notably, students will be allowed to have friends and family members as move-in helpers for Fall 2022.
First-year students arriving on Tuesday, August 16, will receive a specific morning (9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) or afternoon (1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.) time block assignment for their move-in to take place.
All other returning students will be free to arrive between the operating hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. whether they are set for early arrival or plan to return to campus during the August 19-20 general move-in dates.
Move-in check-in will continue to operate out of the Athletics and Events Center. At this time, a formal decision has not been made on whether arrival testing will be required as part of the move-in process. More details will be shared in July.

- Monday, June 6 | New First-Year and Transfer RLC & Special Housing Apps Due **COMPLETED**
- Monday, June 13 | Deadline to Submit Housing Information for New First-Year and Transfers **DUE TODAY**
- Monday, June 27 | New First-Year and Transfer Students Receive Housing Assignments
- Monday, June 27 | Early Arrival Request form Available in IC Workflow
