Jeffery Meyer, Director of Orchestras, appeared with the Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra in Stony Brook, NY to conduct the graduate orchestra.  A graduate of SUNY SB, where he studied with pianist Gilbert Kalish, this appearance with the orchestra will mark Meyer’s second performance with the orchestra. The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra is composed of outstanding musicians from all over the world pursuing advanced studies in the graduate school of the Department of Music with renowned performance faculty.

The program took place Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 8 pm and included the following works: Copland, Clarinet Concerto; Perry Goldstein, Should This Be Found: Six Songs on Scott’s Last Expedition (2004) for voice and orchestra (world premiere) and Brahms, Symphony No. 4 in E Minor, Op. 98.  The concert featured Brenda Harris, soprano soloist, and Chester Howard, clarinet soloist, winner of the 2013 Concerto Competition.

Meyer is grateful to his alma mater for inviting him back to work with these talented graduate students.
