Winning Perialas Prize Speeches

Thursday, November 6, the three winners of the Perialas Prize in Persuasive Oratory will present their speeches in an open forum. A grand prize winner, who will receive a $500 reward, will be selected from the three.

Buddhist Monks to Speak at IC

On Wednesday, November 5, at 8:00 p.m. in the Klingenstein Lounge, there will be a talk and discussion, "Buddhist Ideas of Happiness and Reincarnation."

The principal speaker will be Geshe Tenzin Sherap, holder of the Geshe Lharampa degree from Ganden Jangtse College and resident monk at Ganden Jangtse Monastery (Mundgod, India).

German Filmmaker Anna Faroqhi

Visiting artist Anna Faroqhi presents her latest film project at Park Auditorium on Wednesday, October 29, at 7:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Department of Cinema and Photography and the Office of Multicultural Affairs.

Faroqhi, a young filmmaker from Berlin, combines documentary footage with personal, fictional voice-over to create a personal essay located somewhere between fact and fiction. Waiting, is a film she shot while in Tel Aviv on the eve of the Iraqi War this past spring.

The EMS campus wide reservation system has been off line since last Wednesday, October 22. EMS runs on the Memphis server, and has experienced significant problems ever since all offices running EMS lost connection to that server last Wednesday.
