Posted on Behalf of the Jewish Student Union at Ithaca College

As the Fall Semester has concluded, we, the Jewish Student Union at Ithaca College, are proud to share our story of success with the rest of the Ithaca College.

This semester, despite an ongoing pandemic and the fact that we had just become recognized as an official organization this past August, we are incredibly thrilled the share some of our shared achievements with the entire Ithaca College campus community. (Click here to see our semi-annual report).

We truly appreciate each student, staff member, faculty member, and IC Office/Department who supported us this year in our efforts to promote Jewish equity, equality and protection on our campus.

We wish everyone a happy holiday season and well deserved winter break!

Sincerely,

The Jewish Student Union at Ithaca College

HAPPY HANUKKAH

On behalf of the Jewish Student Union, we wish the entire Ithaca College Jewish Community (students, faculty and staff members, neighbors, alumni, etc.) a Chag Hanukkah Sameach (Happy Hanukkah)!

As Hanukkah is a time for us to celebrate miracles and strength, we hope that you too are able to appreciate your own miracles and strength that can be found in your own lives on a daily basis. Additionally, we also hope that during this week of finals and grading, you are able to eat some yummy food, spend some time with your families, and do the important mitzvah of lighting the menorah!

Though we are not able to truly celebrate as a collective community this year, we hope that you will enjoy this Hanukkah video that we made for YOU!!!!!!!!

With Warmth and Deepest Regards,

The Jewish Student Union Executive Board and Student Assembly! 😁

Is it Chanukkah, Hannukah or Hanukkah? It doesn't matter, just come celebrate!

On Tuesday, December 15th at 8pm (EST), the Jewish Student is excited to host a "Hanukkah Bash" via Zoom for members of the Jewish Community at Ithaca College (including all faculty, students and staff member + allies!).

The event will include a virtual menorah lighting, a few fun games, and a really great time. We can assure you that will event will help you relax in a stressful time!

We, leaders of the Jewish Community at Ithaca College (IC), applaud the decision of both the IC Administration and the Division of Student Affairs & Campus Life to host the upcoming All-Student and Family Virtual Gathering on an alternative day, rather than hosting it on the first night of Hanukkah.

This is the first time in recent history that the college has outwardly and publicly recognized the need to change an event due to a religious holiday. We proudly commend this alteration, which was done as a means of incorporating more inclusion on our campus.

As an organization, we are confident that additional further measures will be taken by college divisions and administrators in considering the importance of diversity, equity, and equality on our campus when it pertains to hosting events and other aspects of academic affairs and student life.

With Appreciation,

The Jewish Student Union at Ithaca College
