They write –– and much more! This craft class will provide an introduction to many different professional careers open to writers. We’ll discuss how you prepare for these jobs just by following your interests –– through high school and college courses, internships, volunteer work, clubs and activities. And we’ll also talk about how to present yourself via a resume and social media. This course will cover the job market's intersection with the skills of writers, including internships, magazine writing, editing and publishing, content creation, and more.

Barbara Adams is an associate professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca College, where she specializes in teaching feature journalism (writing for newspapers, magazines and websites), arts criticism, book publishing, and food and travel writing. She developed and heads an extensive internship program to provide professional experience for IC writing students. As a writer, for more than four decades Barbara has been a theater critic, book reviewer, and arts journalist for regional publications. Her passions include theater and art, languages, gardening, and photography.
