Solo Divisions

Repertoire:

  • Contestants must select one work from each of the periods below:
    • A baroque or classical work (a movement of a sonata or a comparable, larger work is acceptable).
    • A romantic or 20th-century work.
  • All works must be performed from memory.

  • Concertos may not be used in the solo competition.

Division I: Students in grades 10-12 (as of September 2018)

  • Performance time will be limited to 15 minutes.
  • First- and second-place winners will receive awards.
    • The first-place winner will receive a $20,000 Ithaca College President's Scholarship to be applied towards tuition during each year of full-time undergraduate enrollment at Ithaca College. This award is subject to general admission to the College and to the School of Music.
      Should the winner choose to decline or not be able to accept the scholarship award for whatever reason, s/he will instead receive a $750 cash award.
    • The second-place winner will receive a $250 cash award.

Division II: Students in grades 7-9 (as of September 2018)

  • Performance time will be limited to 10 minutes.
  • First- and second-place winners will receive awards.
    • The first-place winner will receive a $500 cash award.
    • The second-place winner will receive a $200 cash award.
