Dear members of our campus community,

This weekend, we celebrated the college’s 125th anniversary during the Weekend on South Hill. Thousands of faculty, staff, students, parents, alumni, family, and friends came to our campus to mark this tremendous milestone for our institution and for our Ithaca College community.

I want to extend to you my deepest thanks for being such a valuable part of our campus community and for participating in this once-in-a-lifetime weekend.

IC hosted more than 60 events and programs on and off campus from Thursday through Sunday—including a huge celebration at the Athletics and Events Center Saturday night, which showcased the magnificent talent and creativity found on our campus and within our community. I am so grateful for the impressive effort of hundreds of people on our campus who worked so hard to provide a welcoming, professional experience for our guests. The Weekend on South Hill was an opportunity for our college community to shine, and for us to demonstrate what a powerful, inspiring, and amazing place Ithaca College is. We did all of that and more.

Personally, the weekend was incredibly special for me. My parents, my brother, my niece, and my husband, Van, were by my side, offering their love and support during my inauguration on Saturday. Many of my dear friends and colleagues from around the country came to Ithaca to participate in the inauguration ceremony; Friday’s academic symposium, Conversation: Started; and Saturday’s Circle of Fifths, a celebration of poetry, fiction, and music, which Van moderated. I was thrilled to be able to share this important weekend and our wonderful community with my family and friends.

We have so much to be proud of as a college community, and I look forward to kicking off the next 125 years of this institution’s history with you.

All my best,

Shirley M. Collado
President
