Schedule of Events

Commencement weekend begins officially on Friday, and many parents and families begin arriving in town and on campus that day. All campus facilities and offices are open for last-minute shopping, banking, or a quick bite to eat. Shabbat service and dinner are held Friday evening.

On Saturday afternoon the College hosts many specialty receptions and ceremonies, including the baccalaureate Catholic mass and Protestant service. All dining halls are open, giving you many options for dinner, and the bookstore is open as well. An additional Shabbat service is held on Saturday morning. The day is capped off by the Commencement Eve Concert and a dazzling display of fireworks over the campus quad.

Commencement day begins early. Breakfast is available on campus beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday. Graduating students are expected to be in full regalia, lined up in the quad by 8:30 a.m. Guests should plan to be seated at Butterfield Stadium by 9:00 a.m. so that the academic procession may begin at 9:15 a.m. Please keep in mind that it may take you up to two and a half hours to get to campus, park your car, and get seated in the stadium, due to heavy traffic volume in Ithaca.

No tickets are required for stadium seating (see "Planning for Weather" for more information about seating).

The Commencement ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. and has traditionally lasted about 90 minutes. Diploma cover distribution and school receptions are held in various locations around campus afterward (exact locations will be announced in the spring semester). Receptions end between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. to close Commencement weekend.

Graduates and on-campus guests should plan to check out of housing no later than Monday at noon.
