Two burglaries in Lyon Hall


The Office of Public Safety is investigating the reports of two burglaries, each occurring in Lyon Hall. It has been reported that unknown person(s) entered two separate rooms and stole one laptop computer from each of the rooms.   The time frame for both incidents is between 03/09/12 and 03/18/12. Investigating officers reported that there were no signs of forced entry found at either location. It is unknown if these two incidents are connected.

Members of the campus community are reminded to always immediately report suspicious or unusual activity to the Officer of Public Safety.

In accordance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act [20 USC 1092 (f)], otherwise known as the “Clery Act,” the College is required to provide the campus community timely warning of certain crimes and other conditions that pose a serious or ongoing threat to life and safety. The College meets this notification requirement through the issuance of a “Public Safety Alert” intended to aid in the prevention of similar crimes and provide cautionary measures for the campus community. Clery crimes are as follows: aggravated assault, arson, burglary, murder and non-negligent homicide, robbery, sexual offenses (forcible and non-forcible), motor vehicle theft, and hate crimes (in accordance with Clery reporting categories for prejudice).
