Age Eligibility

Individuals must be 18 years of age to participate.

Application Fee

There is a $25 non-refundable application fee.

Cancellation

For the Spring Virtual Session, participants can receive a full refund, minus the $250 enrollment deposit, if canceled in writing to the Artistic & Faculty Director by January 9, 2024. We do not issue refunds after that date, including for individuals who may register after that date.

For the Summer Residential Workshop, participants can receive a full refund, minus the $650 enrollment deposit, if canceled by April 10, 2024. We do not issue refunds after that date, including for individuals who may register after that date.

Code of Conduct

Take a moment to read through the code of conduct items below. In order to participate in this program, you will need to acknowledge and sign off on all of the program's policies and procedures.

Conduct Rules

  1. The on-campus possession or use of alcohol and other drugs (including all forms of marijuana), fireworks, guns, and other weapons are prohibited.
  2. No violence, including sexual abuse or harassment, will be tolerated. 
  3. Hazing of any kind is prohibited. Bullying, including verbal, physical, and cyberbullying, is prohibited. 
  4. No theft of property, regardless of owner, will be tolerated. 
  5. No use of tobacco products, illegal drugs, or controlled substances. 
  6. Misuse of, or damage to, College property is prohibited. Charges will be assessed against those participants who are responsible for damage or misuse of College property and will be responsible for damage expenses. 
  7. The inappropriate use of cameras, imaging, and digital devices is prohibited in violation of individuals’ reasonable expectations of privacy.

Financial Aid

Ithaca College is unable to provide financial aid for our certificate program. Tuition remission for Ithaca College employees and dependents does not apply to these programs.

Health and Safety Protocols

Please familiarize yourself with health care services that are available in the Ithaca area, including Cayuga Medical Center, Intermediate Care, and WellNow Urgent Care should you need medical attention during your participation in our program. Ithaca College students participating in our programs will have access to Hammond Health Center, however should be aware that their operating hours are reduced during the summer.

We strongly encourage that participants are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including appropriate booster doses, as defined by the CDC, before arriving on campus for program participation. We are not requiring proof of vaccination to participate in our summer 2024 programs. The College does not offer isolation or treatment services for COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID-19, you will be required to isolate. People who are isolated must remain separated from others for a minimum of 5 days since symptoms first appeared and resolution of fever for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-reducing medications, and with improvements of any other symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath). Isolation must occur at home or off campus. The College cannot provide isolation facilities. 

Participants must abide by all campus COVID-19 health and safety protocols in effect at the time of the summer residential workshop. In addition, depending upon the level of community transmission, it is possible that participants will be required to test, at their own cost, prior to traveling to Ithaca.

Housing and Meals

For an additional fee, a housing and meal package is available to participants. This is optional. Participants will be housed in a single room in a residential hall; however will have a shared bathroom and kitchen. Dining options are available on campus, however are more limited during the summer. 

Parking

Parking is available for participants on campus, but is restricted to designated lots. Participants should be prepared to walk to and from residential hall areas, dining areas, and workshop settings.

Professional Certificate

Completion of both the Spring Virtual Session and the Summer Residential Workshop leads to a non-credit bearing professional certificate issued by Ithaca College. It is possible to complete virtual session in the first year and residency workshop the following summer; however both must be completed within two consecutive years for the certificate to be awarded. Ithaca College does not guarantee that the same Master Teacher will be available in subsequent years of the program.

There is no professional certificate associated with Opera Studio.
