It is hard to believe that I am already in my final year at Ithaca College. After working on The Ithacan, the college’s award-winning, student-run newspaper, for the last three years, I am honored to take on the role of editor in chief. This summer, I worked at the Ithaca Voice through the Park Center for Independent Media, where I covered a wide range of stories, from municipal meetings to COVID-19’s impact on local industries. I am looking forward to continuing reporting with the Voice throughout the year. Prior to the semester starting, I also participated in the week-long Politico Journalism Institute. I had valuable experience networking with professionals in the field of policy reporting. Additionally, through my service, I am engaging with the more human side of health policy. I am volunteering with Sue Rock Originals Everyone, an organization that supports domestic abuse survivors through textiles, and the Women’s Opportunity Center, an organization that supports economically disadvantaged women.
