Sustainability Week was cancelled this year due to the novel Coronavirus, but we are finding new ways to celebrate Earth Day, and to spread awareness! Earth Day Live is a three day series of events that take place from April 22nd to April 24th, 2020. The virtual conference features numerous speakers including Al Gore, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Joaquin Phoenix, Secretary John Kerry, and many more!
Earth Day Live 2020
We are launching a social media campaign for students that aims for engagement, and to put a smile on everyone's face during a hard time. If we get enough students to attend the virtual conference, then we will release images and a video of Business School Professor John Vongas dressed in a full-body carrot costume! Also, we will be raffling off a $50 Wegman's gift card to one lucky student who participates.
How to Participate -Students
Simply go to the Earth Day Live website and register! (https://www.earthdaylive2020.org/). Watch one of the virtual event, and send a screenshot to firstname.lastname@example.org in order to be entered into the drawing for the $50 Wegman's gift card. Also, don't forget that if we get enough attendance, we will be releasing a video of Business School professor John Vongas in a Carrot Costume!
How to Participate - Faculty
While we would love to have faculty also attend the virtual events, it would be great if you could promote Earth Day Live in your classes, and consider providing extra credit for to students attending. The virtual events are sprinkled with high profile speakers, each offering a unique perspective on the fight for a sustainable future. Also, we know that our students could all use a reason to smile these days, and what better way to accomplish that than to lighten up social media with some fun content!
