Expectations for Parents/Guardians:

ATTENDANCE: Parent/Guardians are expected to attend and observe throughout the Program activities and tours. There will be instances where parents/guardians in attendance will be asked to separate from their child temporarily, such as during an audition and/or interview. For both in-person and virtual participation, Ithaca College is not responsible for maintaining supervision of minor participants throughout the Program, nor after the end of scheduled activities.


EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM (Optional): Parents/Guardians are advised that they may download the SAFE IC App if they wish to receive emergency campus notifications while the Minor is present on the College campus.


CONDUCT: If a Program Director determines that a minor is engaging in unsafe or otherwise disruptive misconduct during the Program, the minor may be dismissed before the scheduled end of planned activities. Ithaca College is not responsible for maintaining supervision of minor participants after such dismissal.


COVID-19 Matters: If your minor is experiencing any symptoms on the day of the event, please do not allow them to participate.

Program Personnel:

IC Program Personnel Roles:

  • Supervises all personnel interacting with the participating minors
  • Every safety/security/injury/abuse incident must be reported to Program Director
  • Program Co-Director is a secondary option to receive reports, when Director not available

  • Must report every safety/security/injury/abuse incident to the Program Director or Co-Directors
  • Directly supervise participating minors during interviews/auditions

IC Student Monitors (not applicable to Virtual):

  • Monitor activities in the central program gathering in Clarke or Hoerner Theatre
  • Monitor participating minors being escorted to their interviews/auditions

IC Non-Program Personnel Roles (not applicable to Virtual):

Medical Emergency Personnel: OPS, and in rare cases Student Health Center

Public Safety Emergencies: Office of Public Safety, on call at (607) 274-3333

  • At all times, Participants and Program personnel must adhere to any health- or safety-related 
    instructions provided by the Office of Public Safety.

Supervision of Minors

  • Parents are responsible for supervision of participating minors, except during and in transit to auditions/interviews.
  • Program Director, Co-Directors, Additional Instructors/Staff, and the IC Student Monitors are all ‘authorized adults’, authorized to support programs involving minors.
  • Each authorized adult is responsible at all times for reporting suspected abuse or neglect involving any minor participant to the Program Director and to the Office of Public Safety.
  • When responsible for supervising any minor, authorized adults will protect participating minor(s) from any unreasonable risk to their health or safety, including physical or sexual abuse or any public health hazard.

  • At no time will any Program personnel (Program Director or any other employee, student, or representative) ever touch or physically restrain a participating minor for disciplinary purposes.

How to Report Abuse or Other Concerning Behavior

To report any complaints or concerns you have regarding any harmful, abusive, or neglectful behavior during the program:
