Dear Ithaca College Community,

We would like to provide the following important update regarding flu vaccines for our Ithaca College community. As we enter the fall and winter months, the college strongly encourages members of the campus community to choose to be vaccinated. Receiving a flu shot is an important way to not only protect yourself from serious illness as a result of the influenza virus, but also helps to promote the collective health of our campus community. We invite you to continue reading to learn more about the various ways IC is supporting accessible flu vaccines for members of our community.

Student Flu Shot Appointments Available Through Student Health Services
All Ithaca College students are able to receive a flu shot on campus. Flu shot administration will be handled by appointment only through Student Health Services. Students must contact the Health Center at 607-274-3177 to schedule an appointment. Current Health Center hours of operation for the Fall 2022 semester are:

Monday-Thursday | 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
Friday | 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Saturday | 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
Sunday | CLOSED

Please note that this option is available for all Ithaca College students regardless of whether they currently reside on or off campus. Flu shot administration has already begun for the Fall 2022 semester and we strongly encourage students to contact Student Health Services to book an appointment.

Employee Flu Shot Resources in the Local Community
Although Ithaca College is not providing an on-campus option for employees this year, there are many flu shot resources available in our local community. All employees enrolled in an IC-sponsored health insurance plan through Aetna receive full coverage for flu shots through any in-network health care provider or participating pharmacy. Please see the list below of pharmacy options available in the greater Ithaca area.

CVS Pharmacy
Kinney Drugs
Rite Aid
Walgreens
Walmart
Wegmans

Employees who are not covered under an IC-sponsored health insurance plan through Aetna are encouraged to check with their insurance provider for more information. Although annual flu shots are typically fully covered by most health insurance plans, individuals are encouraged to confirm coverage with their provider prior to booking an appointment to avoid any unforeseen fees.

Traditionally, Ithaca College has hosted a flu shot “pod” on campus each fall as an added choice for campus community members who wish to receive flu vaccines. However, given the widespread availability of the vaccine in our community, the college will not be dedicating resources towards sponsoring a flu shot pod this semester.

We hope that students and employees will continue to participate in promoting the health and well-being of the entire IC community by choosing to be vaccinated this fall using one of the options outlined above. Here’s to a healthy fall semester!

Sincerely,

Hayley Harris
