Women’s Mentoring Network Overview

The Women’s Mentoring Network (WMN) was established in the fall of 2018 with the purpose of enabling women to connect in meaningful ways to support their goals. The WMN grew out of an initial President’s Seed Grant to support mid-career faculty women in spring 2018. Through the work of the grant, the women involved recognized a larger need across campus for all women and the vision for the WMN began to take shape.

The WMN is open to faculty and staff, and has a 3-prong framework including group events, mentoring circles, and individual mentoring. The network currently has over 200 members representing a wide range of faculty and staff across the college.

The Neighborhood: A Virtual Hub for LGBTQ+ Families by Family Equality offers LGBTQ+ families and those who wish to form them a robust calendar of virtual activities from toddler dance parties to creative writing workshops for teens. Sign up for email alerts to be notified each time a new event has been added to the calendar. Tune in live here, participate on Facebook, or re-watch later on YouTube.

The staff trustee position on the Board of Trustees, currently held by Sybil Conrad, is up for re-election at the May 2020 board meeting for a four-year term beginning June 1, 2020.

Applications are being accepted through Monday, March 30th at 11:59pm (this is one week later than the original deadline).  Interested staff members should submit a letter of interest along with a resume to the Staff Council Executive Committee at staffcouncil@ithaca.edu.  The Staff Council Executive Committee will select three individuals from this pool to be forwarded to the Board for their decision regarding the one position. At its May 2020 meeting the Board will elect the next Staff Trustee, whose four-year term will begin on June 1, 2020.
