Have you found yourself composing short poems, observations, one-liners, (or...something like it...) in your head during these last six months? Well, even if you haven't - IC's Staff Council invites you to take a creative break and reflect on a moment in time by writing your own Haiku. Let's connect beyond the daily emails, Zoom meetings and (awesome) GIFs.  This 3-line, 17-syllable form of poetry is calling you. Concise. To the point. And so much more.

Submit your words/thoughts today at: MY HAIKU for the Staff Haiku Project.  Deadline has been extended to October 9th.  For information contact Staff Council members: Sara Jacobs and/or Sarah Shank at: sjacobs4@ithaca.edu or sshank@ithaca.edu.

Recently overheard on a silent city corner in an empty-filled subway car near a winding country road diner in the middle of a rain-filled desert mirage overlooking the tallest small mountain you never did see: “I bid you farewell for now - I’ve got a Haiku to write!"

*Good news! There's still time for you to submit your original 3-line, 17-syllable haiku poems for the Staff Haiku Project.  Submit your words today at: MY HAIKU.   For information contact Staff Council members: Sara Jacobs and/or Sarah Shank at: sjacobs4@ithaca.edu or sshank@ithaca.edu.

You are receiving this message because it is being sent so that you may catch it, cup it in your hands and hold it in your thoughts as you take a moment to own it and put aside your typical morning routine for merely a few minutes to allow for you to put pen to paper, or hands to keyboard, or pebble to soil - and imprint your very own Haiku.

Dear Valued Customer:

Thank you for filing a letter with our Department of Complaints located in our prestigious Office of Sure, Sure, Whatever You Say. While we were sorry to learn that you were less than satisfied with the musical plastic toy-set (with no OFF button), purchased for your grandkids, we are pleased to offer you a semi-free gift with your next purchase of a larger plastic toy-set with super flashing lights. But first, for a limited time only - we are offering you this exclusive opportunity to step away from our colorful catalogue of things; put your wallet in a hidden drawer - and go for a walk. During that walk, collect your thoughts - 17 syllables worth of thoughts, and write it down. We present to you the gift of time. Time for reflection. For creativity. For stillness. For enjoyment. Time for Haiku.
