Housing is awarded based on your time at IC—not academic standing.
Groups with the highest number of completed semesters get earlier priority. Be sure to coordinate with your group ahead of time.
For individuals and groups, housing priority is determined by semester count. If you’re applying as a group (for example, to live in an apartment), the group’s average number of completed semesters will be used to calculate placement in the selection process.
Once your place in the process is established, you'll have access to select from available housing types—including single and double rooms in residence halls, Residential Learning Communities (RLCs), special housing areas, and on-campus apartments like Circles and Gardens.
For seniors and students eligible for off-campus housing: if you secure on-campus housing but later apply for and are granted an off-campus exemption, your existing housing assignment will be forfeited. This could affect your apartment-mates, so communicate your intentions clearly and early.
