For Fall 2021, only student employees from the following offices will be allowed to return early, on August 10th, to support the Move-in process: Dining Services, Information Technology, Mail Services, New Student and Transition Programs, Public Safety, and Residential Life. Sunday, August 15th is the only other early arrival day.
You must receive prior approval by the Office of Residential Life in order to select a move-in appointment outside of your class year's move-in days.
- First Year students can select move-in appointments for Monday, August 16th and Tuesday, August 17th
- Upper Years students can select move-in appointments for Thursday, August 19th and Friday, August 20th
Requests based on employment, athletics, academics, or other campus involvement
Your early arrival request must be submitted by your employment supervisor, coach, academic advisor, or other IC staff or faculty member. Requests will be approved when possible, depending on reason and availability of the specific room or apartment assignment. Your employment supervisor, coach, academic advisor, staff or faculty member should refer to the Intercom message about the Early Arrival process. The Summer Housing Office will submit an Early Arrival Request for summer employees moving from their summer room to their fall room. Please note, the July 7th email with instructions on selecting a move-in appointment, will also list the date your supervisor, coach, etc requested that you return.
Requests based on Personal Reasons
If you have a need to move-in earlier due to extenuating circumstances, email your request to email@example.com and be as specific as possible when explaining the reason that you are requesting to arrive early. Do not make travel arrangements until you have received a response, as requests may not be able to be granted.
No IC moving assistance or moving supplies (such as carts or dollies) are available during early arrival check-in. For dining hours, locations, and other information, please visit the Ithaca College Dining website.
You may not check into your fall housing assignment prior to the date of your move-in appointment. Only students with a move-in appointment will be allowed to check in on a given day.
Students with an on campus Fall assignment
If you would like to return to campus prior to the official Spring semester opening, you may return to your Fall assignment as part of our Break Housing options by submitting a break housing registration form.
Students Who did not live on campus during the fall semester
Early Arrival requests are required for students who did not live on campus during the Fall semester and are required to check in to your Spring housing assignment earlier than the published Spring semester check-in date. You must receive written approval from the Office of Residential Life to arrive early. The earliest date you may request is the Thursday prior to the published residence hall opening date for the Spring semester.
If you are required to arrive early due to on campus employment in an essential office, athletics, or academics, the early arrival request must be submitted by your employment supervisor, coach, or academic school. Requests will be approved when possible, depending on reason and availability of the specific room or apartment assignment. Students approved to return early will receive an email, with information about testing and their move-in.
Students found in a closed residence hall or apartment who are unapproved prior to the published opening time are subject to immediate removal from the building, a student conduct referral, and a $100.00 fine.
