Undergraduate Senior Awards

Dean's Awards Recipients

The Dean’s Award is given to the graduating seniors in each HSHP department who have attained the highest grade point average (GPA) over the past four years. These students are the academic leaders and scholars of their departments.

Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training

Professional Excellence Award

The Professional Excellence Award is given to students in each major within the Department of Exercise Science and Athletic Training who, through their studies, curricular, and extracurricular activities, embody the professional and educational aspirations implicit in the major.

Mark Alderman Award

The Mark Alderman Award is given to the senior athletic training student who best exemplifies the qualities of service, kindness, and compassion for others as exemplified by Mark Alderman, MS, ATC.

Rodney Dusinberre Award

The Rodney Dusinberre Award is given to the senior athletic training student who best exemplifies the qualities of hard work, commitment, and loyalty to the Ithaca College Athletic Training Education program.

Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education

Professional Excellence Award

The Professional Excellence Award is given to students in each major within the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education who embody the long tradition of knowledge and achievement implicit in the student’s major. This includes academic achievement, community engagement, and leadership.

Kelly Anne Perkins Award

The Kelly Anne Perkins Award is given to a graduating senior in a Health and/or Physical Education major who demonstrates excellence in leadership, community service, friendship, and compassion as exemplified by Kelly Anne Perkins.

Srijana Bajracharya Award

The Srijana Bajracharya Award is given to a senior in a health promotion major who demonstrates excellence in academics, research, experiential learning, and civic mindedness as exemplified by Professor Bajracharya.

Department of Occupational Therapy

Carole White Dennis Research Award

The Carole White Dennis Research Award is given to a student who embodies the attitude of a future clinical scholar. This student participates in the creation of and dissemination of scholarly works and is committed to advancing the evidence base in occupational science and therapy.

Catherine Y. Gordon Leadership Award

The Catherine Y. Gordon Leadership Award is given to the student who demonstrates leadership at multiple levels both on and off campus. This awardee strives for academic excellence, leadership in organizations, and is a role model to peers.

Commitment Award

The Commitment Award is given to a student who demonstrates exceptional commitment to the profession of occupational therapy through their actions on and off campus.

Creative and Innovation Thought Award

The Creative and Innovative Thought Award is given to a student who demonstrates creativity and innovation through the expression of ideas and actions that serve to broaden traditional views of occupational therapy practice or education.

Service Award

The Service Award is given to a student who demonstrates exceptional service to the college and community through volunteer and leadership activities on and off campus.

Department of Physical Therapy

Professional Excellence Award

The Professional Excellence Award is given in recognition of students who exhibit excellence in one or more of the following areas:  leadership, clinical practice, service, professionalism, academics, or scholarship.

Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies

Academic Excellence Award

To receive this award the student must have been nominated by the local chapter, have maintained outstanding scholastic achievement, and have provided consistent and prolonged service to the local chapter of the organization.

Professional Development Award

The Professional Development Award is given to a student who has distinguished him or herself in the area of professional development. This includes attendance or presenting at conferences and workshops and/or organizing or attending extracurricular programs that enhance professional development.

Service Award

The Service Award is given to a student who has been involved in campus and community service-oriented activities beyond the required fieldwork.

Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology

Robert W. Baker Award

The Robert W. Baker Award is given to a speech-language pathology undergraduate student in recognition of meritorious contributions to the department.

Baker-Jones Award

The Baker-Jones Award is given to a speech-language pathology undergraduate student in recognition of outstanding academic performance.

NSSLHA Honors Award

To receive this award the student must have been nominated by the local chapter, have maintained outstanding scholastic achievement, and have provided consistent and prolonged service to the local chapter of the organization.
