Welcome from Dean Petrosino

I’m proud to be part of the Ithaca College School of Health Sciences and Human Performance (HSHP), a place where students learn to make a difference in people’s lives not only within their discipline but also as compassionate advocates of health and well-being across the lifespan.
A strong liberal arts foundation, enthusiastic professors, well-equipped research facilities, and a hands-on approach to learning are the key elements of our programs. Students have numerous opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills they develop in the classroom, working side by side with faculty on research, assisting clients at one of our four on-campus clinics, student teaching at a local or regional school, helping to train one of our IC athletic teams, or interning at a health care facility in our global network. We also offer a unique HSHP Preprofessional Program, which allows first- and second-year students to explore a range of health science fields before declaring a major, benefit from special academic counseling, and still graduate on time.
The reality of health professions today is that practitioners and educators work in teams, interacting with other specialties to provide the best possible results. We continue to strengthen and expand our curriculum to infuse interprofessional experiences and keep pace with the changing needs of the health sciences and human performance industry. Our students are therefore positioned for success as they complete their programs.
More than 90 percent of HSHP graduates successfully find employment in their field or a related field or are accepted into graduate school within one year of graduation. We are proud of the exceptionally high percentage of our graduates who pass national certification and licensure exams in the programs offered through our school.
If you’re looking for a school that will allow you to explore your passion for health and well-being with an engaging, hands-on approach to learning in a supportive and progressive environment, I encourage you to join IC. I invite you to learn more about our nationally recognized programs.
