AI Mini-Grants for Course Integration

Ten stipends of $500 will be awarded to faculty as an incentive to develop student-facing instructional units that integrate AI into existing courses, thereby enhancing student "AI Literacy" within their discipline. The instructional unit may include lessons, activities, and/or projects that require the use and/or critical analysis of artificial intelligence.

Communities of Practice Program

Funding is available for faculty Communities of Practice to support small groups collaborating around shared topics of interest, mentoring needs, or professional goals. Groups may apply for up to $400 to cover expenses such as materials, professional development, meeting food, or other related needs. Priority will be given to writing-related initiatives and projects that foster the professional development of early-career faculty.

Faculty Excellence Award

The Center for Faculty Excellence and the Faculty Development Committee seek nominations for Ithaca College’s annual Faculty Excellence Awards. We welcome ALL faculty nominations.

Nominations are due annually on March 1. Please see our FEA page for details. 

Instructor Development Award (IDA)

The Instructor Development Award (IDA) offers financial support for expenses associated with faculty professional development specifically in their roles as teachers. Projects under this umbrella might include costs associated course registration fees or conference attendance to broaden the faculty member’s ability to teach new courses or extend their capacity to implement new pedagogical techniques.

Small Grants for Teaching

This program offers grants of up to $300 to support faculty in acquiring materials that directly enhance teaching and learning. Eligible expenses include books, digital resources, software, laboratory supplies, or other tangible items used in course instruction. This grant is intended for the purchase of supplies only; it does not provide compensation for faculty time, stipends, or support for pursuing advanced degrees. Priority is given to proposals that enrich course quality and promote student engagement. Faculty are encouraged to use this fund to pilot innovative teaching ideas, with the understanding that if the project is successful, they should plan to incorporate ongoing costs into their department budget. Recurring expenses are not eligible for repeated grant funding.

Summer Grants

This grant is intended to support post-terminal degree scholarly endeavors. Awards provide compensation for eight weeks of full-time scholarly or creative work.

Sustainability Grant: Education for a Sustainable Future

Four faculty stipends of $1,200 will be awarded to support the development of student-facing lesson series or instructional units that integrate sustainability into existing or new courses, fostering sustainable learning across schools and disciplines. These units may include lessons, activities, or projects that explore sustainability within a specific discipline. While the primary focus, and preferred focus, is environmental sustainability, broader interpretations of sustainability will also be considered.
