Sharing Ithaca College’s Story

Together the Office of College Communications and The Marketing & Creative Group work to promote the distinctive character, achievements, talents, and aspirations of the IC community.

We tell the stories of our faculty, students, staff, alumni, and friends in diverse and vibrant ways that inform, engage, and inspire action. We partner throughout our campus to accomplish the following:

  • Articulate and celebrate IC’s unique place in higher education
  • Generate external visibility for faculty experts, student achievers, and distinctive programs
  • Share the hallmarks of the IC experience with prospective students and families
  • Help alumni stay connected to their alma mater
  • Share the college’s strategic efforts with clarity, care, and transparency

A Note about Accuracy

In all of the publications, statements, reports, stories, media releases, social media, marketing materials, and other information that College Communications and The Creative & Marketing Group manage, accuracy and truthfulness is required. The process to ensure this standard entails the following steps, which are applied as appropriate based on the type of project:

  • Verifying information with subject matter experts or content owners
  • Researching with authoritative sources such as the Office of Analytics and Institutional Research, the Ithaca College library archives, or other official college records
  • Fact checking through independent external sources and publications
  • Verifying directly with the subjects of stories

In an instance when an error does get published, the office will run a correction (in the case of news stories or magazine publications) or revise and replace the erroneous material (in the case of non-publication material).
