The Middle States Association (MSA) is one of six regional accrediting associations in the United States. Ithaca's accreditation was reaffirmed on June 21, 2018. The Commission on Higher Education is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. secretary of education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

Additionally, Ithaca College is authorized by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York to grant post-secondary degrees:
