Stephen Zunes is a prolific writer and one of the country’s leading scholars of both U.S. Middle East policy and strategic nonviolent action.

He is a professor of politics and international studies at the University of San Francisco, where he also coordinates the program on Middle Eastern studies. Zunes is a senior policy analyst for the Foreign Policy in Focus project of the Institute for Policy Studies, an associate editor of Peace Review, a contributing editor to Tikkun, and cochair of the academic advisory committee for the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict.

In his talk at Ithaca College on April 16, 2014, "Middle East Uprisings: Victories and Setbacks," he discussed the precarious sociopolitical situations in Tunisia, Egypt, Iran, Syria, and Palestine. His visit was cosponsored by PCIM and the Department of Politics, with the collaboration of politics professor Beth Harris. He was introduced by PCIM's Maura Stephens.
