Pre-Screen Requirements
There are currently pre-screen requirements for:
Uploading pre-screen materials
Applicants will upload pre-screen materials to Acceptd, along with their Acceptd application.
Applicants are encouraged to use standard technology/recording devices that are available to them (smartphones, tablets, etc.).

Deadlines
Pre-screen materials must be uploaded to Acceptd by:
- November 1 (Early Decision)
- December 1 (Regular Decision)
Accompaniment
Pre-screen materials for instrumental applicants should be unaccompanied.
Pre-screen materials for voice applicants should be accompanied.

Degree Specific Pre-Screen Requirements

Pre-screen Requirements:
- Approximately 10 minutes of music in contrasting styles. This can include any combination of solos, concertos, etude, and excerpts.
- Two (2) major scales with arpeggios and one (1) minor scale with arpeggios.

- One (1) timpani solo (if available).
- One (1) rudimental or orchestral snare drum solo (can be played on practice pad).
- Optional: demonstration of drum set styles.

Pre-screen Requirements:
- One (1) song in your primary language that reflects your personal artistry and love of singing.
- One (1) memorized ballad, blues selection, or jazz standard with improvisation (suggested list).
Note: Materials must be accompanied by live collaborator (yourself or others) or recorded track and must be sung from memory.

Pre-screen Requirements:
- A video recording with a small group or play-along tracks of three (3) tunes of contrasting styles, at least one (1) of which should be a straight 8th note or "modern jazz" feel (not rock/funk).
- Each tune could feature the drummer playing time behind a soloist for one (1) - three (3) choruses, as well as a demonstration of the drummer's solo vocabulary, either trading a chorus or a solo.
Tunes could include any of the following, but are not limited to:
- Any blues
- Any rhythm changes
- A tune with changing feels, like Green Dolphin St. or Nica's Dream
- Original music
If using play-along tracks, some possible sources are:
- John Riley's "Art of Bop Drumming" and "Beyond Bop Drumming"
- Steve Davis' "The Ultimate Play Along for Jazz Drummers"
- A video recording with a small group or play-along tracks of three (3) tunes of contrasting styles, at least one (1) of which should be a straight 8th note or "modern jazz" feel (not rock/funk).

Pre-screen Requirements:
- One (1) song in your primary language that reflects your personal artistry and love of singing.
- One (1) song in any language other than your primary language contrasting in style, time period, and/or tempo.
Note: Materials must be accompanied by live collaborator (yourself or others) or recorded track and must be sung from memory.
