Membership Benefits

Membership includes the following services (dependent upon staff availability):

Please note: All new or current client appointments for consultations, orientations, fitness evaluations, individualized exercise program design and instruction, GXT's, and workshops must be scheduled through the front desk.

Comprehensive Health/Fitness Appraisal including:

Medical History/Health/Exercise Habits Interview (upon joining) and Review (once per semester or as needed with changes)

Fitness Evaluation (upon joining and yearly thereafter)

  • Resting Heart Rate and Blood Pressure
  • Body Composition Assessment
  • Muscular Fitness Evaluation
  • Flexibility Assessment
  • Functional Movement Screening

Graded Exercise Test (GXT) (upon joining and every three years thereafter)

  • Resting, exercise, and recovery ECG, heart rate, and blood pressure
  • VO2max (measure of aerobic or cardiovascular fitness)

Exercise Prescription and Counseling (once per semester)

Our Fitness Specialists will develop an individualized exercise program for each member (new members upon joining; current members once per semester). Fitness Specialist will orient member to their exercise program and specifically to all exercises within their personalized program as needed. Fitness Specialist will also provide counseling on goal-setting and motivational techniques as well as on pertinent health and fitness topics (nutrition, weight control, stress, etc.).

Exercise Supervision & Assistance

At least one student Fitness Specialist or Floor Monitor will be available on the fitness floor at all times. The Fitness Specialists are trained to assess and correct technique, assist members in completion of their individualized exercise program and/or the Workout of the Week (WOW), educate members and answer questions about the ACSM Evidence-Based Guidelines for Cardiovascular, Resistance, and Flexibility Exercise and other health/fitness/wellness topics, and provide motivation/support/encouragement. Fitness Specialists and floor monitors are also trained to maintain a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all clients.

Group Exercise Classes (as offered, typically in Fall & Spring semesters)

Access to all classes daily Monday through Friday (see group exercise schedule)

Workout of the Week (as offered, minimally in Fall & Spring semesters)

Blood Pressure & Heart Rate Measurement (offered daily - resting & during exercise)

In addition, all members receive access to:

  • Group Orientations to Cardiovascular Equipment, Cybex Resistance Machines, Static & Dynamic Stretching (sign-up at front desk)
  • Exercise Behavior Coaching (offered by Graduate Sport Psychology students)
  • Supervised Exercise Sessions based on medical necessity
  • Referrals to the Ithaca College Physical Therapy clinic through our inter-disciplinary Exercise Transition Program (referrals from Exercise & Wellness Specialists or Director)
  • Health and fitness lectures and workshops
  • Goal-setting and motivational techniques
