This primary workshop meets each morning from 10 to 12.

This workshop in genre fiction -- including science fiction, fantasy, ghost stories, and more -- will use exercises, readings, and short assignments to encourage character and scene development and the exploration of themes and settings. Activities include world-building exercises and working with classic story lines, fabulous creatures, and other tropes to make them fresh and new.

Joan Marcus has been teaching fiction and creative nonfiction at Ithaca College since 2002. Her courses include, among others, Writing Children’s Literature, Autobiography, and a Senior Seminar in literary and commercial genre fiction.
