Richland Northeast High School, Columbia, SC

Lynn Washington teaches at Richland Northeast High School in Columbia, South Carolina. For more than 35 years, Washington has fostered RNHS’ media program through its beginnings in a gifted program to a morning news program, and now it has become a convergence model known as Cavplex. Washington is currently offering courses in photojournalism, news journalism, and web production. She acted as a proponent for Richland Northeast to obtain funding for school-wide television coverage; an allocation from an Magnet School Assistance Program (MSAP) grant.

Washington has been recognized as Lifetime Achievement Award winner from the International Model United Nations Association. Other awards and distinguished honors include the Magnet Teacher of the Year Award from Magnet Schools of America, speaking and presenting workshops on behalf of Magnet Schools of America, as well as being a finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year.

Washington received her bachelor’s degree from Newberry College. She later received her Master’s in Education from University of South Carolina.
