Assistant Professor in the Department of Strategic Communication, Yvette Sterbenk, presented at the CCI Conference on Corporate Communication at Baruch College in NYC. This is an international conference for academics and practitioners who work in the fields of corporate communication, crisis management, corporate social responsibility and reputation management.
She presented “Priming the Pipeline: Attracting the Next Generation of Corporate Communicators” on behalf of a research project that she is collaborating on with Dean Diane Gayeski of Ithaca College and Tamara Gillis, Professor of Communications at Elizabethtown College. It looks at what students understand about the field of corporate communication to explore how to both attract more students to this field of study and also ensure the field is messaging itself appropriately. Data in the study includes a survey of 162 students at IC and Elizabethtown and of 30 professionals in the field.
She will also be presenting this research at the International Association of Business Communicators Heritage Region Conference in Pittsburgh in October.
