Transfer Opportunities

Transfer into our program either as a current Ithaca College student or from another institution

Timeline

Undergraduate students from within Ithaca College, as well as those from other institutions, can typically transfer into the undergraduate SLPA program before the start of classes in the fall semester of their sophomore year and proceed through the typical course sequence. You will be able to graduate on-time after completing three years of study within the SLPA program (sophomore year, junior year, senior year).

If you enter the program after the beginning of the sophomore year, you may be required to complete an additional semester or an additional year of study to graduate.

SLPA Course Completion

All coursework with an SLPA prefix (SLPA XXXXX) that is required for the major must be taken at Ithaca College.

GPA Requirement

There is a minimum cumulative GPA requirement as well as a minimum grade requirement in all SLPA courses. Students who do not meet these minimum requirements may not be admitted into the major.

Transfer Process

  1. Review the SLPA program information in the undergraduate as well as the graduate course catalogs. A graduate degree in the field of speech-language pathology is required in order to become an ASHA certified speech-language pathologist.

  2. Contact Maureen Forrest at mforrest@ithaca.edu to schedule an appointment with the Department Chair.

  3. Complete the Department's internal transfer application, available from the Departmental Office in Smiddy 301.

  4. Submit a "Change of Major/Concentration" request through IC Workflow.
