“It was love at first sight. I love my school so much (…) It was actually supposed to be a half-time long-term sub and then it turned into a full-time tenure-track job, which was amazing (…) I get to teach English and History, even though I'm technically Social Studies—which I really love because I was kind of torn which one I wanted to focus on. So now I didn't have to choose and I get to do both.”
“One thing that I love is that I get to create all my own curriculum. So in terms of my teaching practice, I think it's really creative and I try to be very project-based. We don't use grades, we do narrative evaluations and the class is portfolio-based—so it's all about their assignments and their revisions, and very much not about giving them a static letter grade, which I love.”
