Being Happy in This School

THE COLLEAGUES & THE STUDENT BODY

"The colleagues are very friendly and very helpful. It's a mutual give-and-take. We help each other a lot. We're each other's therapists. So if things aren't going well, we can get it off our chest. It's not a big deal if you say, 'I can't handle the class. They're just walking all over me. What do I do?' We really help each other.”

"The second thing that makes me happy is actually our student body. It's a very diverse student body (...) We have over 50% of children with an immigrant background. But they're not just children from our town. There are also the surrounding villages, with children who come from there. That creates such a nice atmosphere—a very diverse atmosphere—and the students are really nice, friendly, and polite with us teachers—not necessarily with each other, but with me they are very polite, nice, and friendly, and I find that extremely pleasant (...) And I can make a difference for those who perhaps still need a little more support. That's a wonderful thing."

"I really need the polite, friendly, and generally positive atmosphere. That's something that gives me a lot of strength. And I have that with both the students and my colleagues."

"Well, I'm definitely someone who needs a lot of social interaction, but I didn't realize that before. I have to say, I was lucky that I came to this school which is so friendly. We often have interns or student teachers and they always tell us that what's special is how we interact with each other as faculty members. I didn't realize that before, but it's really extremely important. If that weren't the case, I would transfer to another school."
