“For me, I think that figuring out how to best make the curriculum work for the kids is my biggest happy place. I really like the planning part of teaching, especially. I think behavior management has been very difficult for the past few years, so I think getting into that time on my own outside of school helps things go better during the school day. And so I've been finding a lot of joy in planning.”
“I mean, I love the kids. Obviously, that's part of why I'm here doing it. But they can be very difficult to spend a lot of time with every day, with the high demands that are on me and on them. And so when things go well in a school day is the best feeling, and the way that I make that happen is by putting a lot of effort into the planning part of it.”
“I think if I were to leave teaching I would really miss having an active job where I get to be on my feet, working with little people all day. On days when we've had remote work days, or when we just have a planning day, I am kind of miserable. I don't like those days. I like having the planning time, but I would not want to do that for my entire job. Having the variety in the day is important to me.”
