In-Person & Virtual Services

CAPS offers in-person and virtual telehealth services.

CAPS policy is to have Initial Consultations/Intake sessions in-person, unless there is a compelling reason to do otherwise. Subsequent sessions can be held virtually per agreement of the student and clinician. NYS OMH regulations concerning telehealth indicate the need for at least one in-person session with the provider, especially if medications are being considered. At CAPS, we feel that having the initial session in-person allows for a more thorough assessment of treatment needs and a richer counseling experience.

To support the effectiveness of virtual appointments with your on or off-campus provider, the college provides confidential spaces on campus. These private rooms are available on a limited basis. Students can email counseling@ithaca.edu 24-business-hours in advance to reserve one of these rooms.

CAPS counselors conduct emergency or crisis interventions in-person. Other virtual support options include group therapy & skills-based support groupsLet's Talkconsultations, and after-hours on-call counselor services. As with all CAPS services, our virtual support options are free and confidential.
