|Graduate Professional Excellence Award in Physical Therapy|
When I was a junior in high school, my parents suggested that a career in physical therapy might be a great match for me. I had no idea how planting that idea in my head would have such a profound effect on me. I spent part of that summer observing physical therapists at a nearby clinic and realized that this field was a perfect fit. I have always had a passion for helping and caring for others. I was an active high school athlete and enthusiastic sports fan. When either myself or my teammates were injured, I was always fascinated by how that injury was treated, often involving some sort of physical therapy. I have found that hard work, determination, compassion, and positivity are the keys to my success.
My experiences at Ithaca have been incredible. I was able to attend the American Physical Therapy Association National Student Conclave in Louisville in October 2013. This event was an amazing opportunity to learn more about the profession and all the new research and developments that are occurring today. I was able to meet professionals and students with whom I shared the same enthusiasm and motivation. I have been inspired to be a part of an occupation that is positively changing the world and hope to one day be a larger part of that change.
