Rodney Dusinberre Award

From an early age, I always knew I wanted to be involved in sports. Growing up in Danvers, Massachusetts, I spent years playing and watching a variety of sports and through those experiences I discovered my passion for athletics. As the son of a nurse, I also developed an interest in the field of medicine. When I discovered the field of athletic training during my senior year of high school, it seemed like the perfect way to combine both of my interests into one area of study. Looking back after four years, I can safely say that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Next year, I look forward to continuing my education by pursuing a master’s degree at Indiana University where I will be a graduate assistant athletic trainer.

One of the experiences that impacted me the most was working with the Ithaca College football team. The football team was the first clinical experience in which I was in charge and managed my own team. This not only had a profound impact on me as an athletic trainer, but also reinforced my passion in athletic training and shaped the way I now practice.
