IT Hiring Process

  • Applicants must be able to commit to 2 or more semesters of work with IT
    • The majority of IT student employees continue work with us until graduation!
  • IT student employees must commit to working a minimum of 6 hours per week
    • On average, student employees work 8-10 hours per week
  • New Hire Training
    • Hired applicants must attend mandatory training before beginning work with IT
    • Training dates are subject to change, but typically takes place the week before the semester begins in August and January 

The student staff in IT&A are the "Face of IT&A" and the first interaction many campus community members have of IT&A as an organization! Therefore, excellent customer service is a requirement of all positions within IT&A.

In order to apply for IT, you are encouraged to attend one of our Hiring Info Sessions. Fall 2025 dates are to be announced!

Applications to work with IT are available online through a two-step process. Interested applicants are strongly encouraged to apply by our priority deadline. After that point, applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all positions are filled. The Spring 2026 priority deadline is to be announced! We encourage you to apply regardless! 

1. Apply to your desired positions online through the IC HR Recruiting Cloud

  • Please be prepared to upload a resume and cover letter that highlights your skills, work, volunteer, and extracurricular experiences. We ask that you submit these documents and apply to all positions for which you'd like to be considered for employment.
    • Please label the files as "Your Name_Resume" and "Your Name_Cover Letter"
    • Preferred file format: PDF 

2. Fill out our IT Supplemental Questionnaire online

  • Please be prepared to list your top three positions within IT from the open positions listed above
  • Please be prepared to list at least one professional reference
    • Ithaca College faculty and staff members are preferred but not required. You may use a non-IC professional reference if you feel they can better speak to your skills and experiences
    • Current IC students and IT @ IC student employees are not eligible to be references
    • It is best practice to ask the person if they are willing to serve as a reference before listing them on your application  
  • Applicants will be notified via their IC email whether or not they have been selected for an interview. 

    • If selected, please schedule your interview through our online Bookings portal  

  • Dates for initial first-round interviews are to be announced. Interviews after the first round will be scheduled on a case-by-case basis. 

  • Interviews will last approximately 45 minutes and will be held with a Student Leadership Team member and Student Employment Program Manager.

  • Interviews will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams.

  • Applicants will be notified via their IC email whether or not they have been selected for a second-round interview.

    • If selected, please schedule your interview(s) through our online Bookings portal  

    • You may be selected to interview with multiple full-time area supervisors, but will only be offered one position within IT  

  • Dates for second-round interviews are to be announced.

  • Interviews last approximately 45 minutes and will be conducted by our full-time IT Area Supervisors   

  • Interviews may be held in-person or virtually via Microsoft Teams, depending on the position for which you are interviewing. 

  • We will contact all references prior to extending job offers.
  • The date by which applicants will be notified via email whether or not they have been offered a position with IT is to be determined.
  • Selected candidates will need to formally accept the job offer and submit all new hire forms by the deadline specified in the job offer.
