The purpose of this hybrid institute is to support faculty in developing fluency and skills in teaching in an era of artificial intelligence. Led by Ithaca College faculty, representing various schools and course types, facilitators will share models for effective practices in the classroom. Participants of the AI Literacy Institute will explore:
- AI literacy and ethical use
- Practical application to instruction
- Student readiness for AI-integrated careers
- Digital fluency and critical analysis of AI tools
Who can participate?
Ithaca College faculty are invited to participate. This institute is for those who are just beginning this work, as well as those who have been doing this work for some time and wish to join a community of practice. The faculty members who participate in live sessions, complete at least 80% of the online activities, and develop a final project will receive a stipend.
Faculty members who receive/accept an AI Mini-grant award for the 2025-2026 academic year are not eligible to participate in the Institute. Participants may apply for both; however, if selected, they must choose only one.
How do I apply?
Faculty members who wish to participate in the AI Literacy Institution must complete the application by May 30, 2025. Up to 20 faculty members will be chosen to participate in the Institute. Applicants will need to provide a short response to the following prompts:
- What specific aspects of AI are you most interested in exploring for your teaching and learning practices?
- How do you hope to apply new skills and understandings from the institute to your teaching?
How will your participation in the institute align with your department's or program’s goals?
Time Commitment:
Participants will engage in synchronous large group meetings, small group working sessions, and asynchronous professional development on Canvas throughout the Fall 2025 semester.
