Lights, Camera, Action!

This program will provide a walking tour of movies & arts locations in downtown Ithaca. Stops may include some or all of the following: Cinemapolis movie theater, Community School of Music and Arts, Well Said Media, Kitchen Theatre Company, and the Wharton Studio Museum. We hope attendees will find one or more places they love, and return back throughout their time at IC!

Students who participate in the Movies & Arts in the Ithaca Community do not have to be film/cinematography or arts-related majors, but students in those majors are more than welcome!  Previous participants have gone on to find arts-related involvements on and off campus.

 In this program, participants will: 

  • Engage with multiple local arts organizations, including seeing the spaces and meeting staff from those organizations (some of whom are IC alumni). 

  • Learn about opportunities to get involved in the Ithaca arts community.

  • Meet current student leaders engaged in film and arts programs at IC and learn about how to get involved in these programs as new students.

  • Have fun and meet new friends!

Program logistics: 

  • New students can participate in this Jumpstart program on August 19-20, 2024

  • Jumpstart participants will move into their residence hall rooms on Monday, August 19 between 9:00am - 4:00pm.

  • The program runs from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Monday (includes a welcome BBQ!), approximately 9:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, with a Jumpstart closing event on Tuesday evening.

  • A catered lunch will be provided for participants of this program on Tuesday, all other meals will be covered by your IC meal plan in the dining hall. Transportation and all program materials are provided for this program.

  • Participants will be engaged in fun and physical activities; please wear clothes that will allow you to walk 1-2 miles on a flat, downtown location.

  • There is no charge for this program.
