Designed just for Transfer Students: Meet new friends while you explore alumni connections in Ithaca!

Learn about the IC community, original downtown campus and IC's unique local history, Friends of Ithaca, local alumni and alumni-owned businesses, including networking and job opportunities in the area.

We recognize transferring to a new school can be daunting, but we know you'll find your place here at IC!

While you may have a good understanding of college life, you may also want the opportunity to connect to your new campus and surrounding community. Transfer Students are invited to join this program to get a head start on learning Ithaca College terminology and resources, while building new connections in their cohort. One highlight of the day will be visiting Circus Culture to enjoy fun activities together! 

IN THIS PROGRAM, PARTICIPANTS WILL:

  • Learn about the unique history and evolution of Ithaca College from its original downtown campus to South Hill, and notable alumni and programs at the college.
  • Explore the downtown area, visit the site of the original campus, visit alumni-owned businesses and IC traditions in the community that every Bomber should know about.
  • Connect with local alumni and friends of Ithaca College to get local insights into the community, hear about off-campus employment opportunities, and ways to volunteer and get involved in the Ithaca community off-campus.
  • Have fun, meet new friends, and explore your new community!
Program Logistics
  • New students can participate in this Jumpstart program on August 17-18, 2026
  • Jumpstart participants will move into their residence hall rooms on Monday, August 17 between 9:00am - 4:00pm.
  • The program runs from 5:00 to 8:00pm on Monday (includes a welcome BBQ!), approximately 9:00am-6:00pm on Tuesday, with a Jumpstart closing event on Tuesday evening.
  • A program-specfic lunch will be provided for participants of this program on Tuesday, all other meals will be covered by your IC meal plan in the dining hall. Transportation and all program materials are provided for this program.
  • Participants will be engaged in fun activities; please for the weather and wear shoes that will allow you to walk more than a mile and be on your feet for several hours throughout the day.
  • There is no charge for this program.
