Any drug can be problematic for an individual as well as for others who are impacted by that person's substance use. After using cannabis for a time, many people find themselves in the position of wanting to cut down on their use, or quit altogether.

T-Break Guide: A Guide to Help You Take a Tolerance Break from Cannabis Use

If you are experiencing any or all of the symptoms below, you may be developing a problem with cannabis:

  • Using in larger amounts or for longer than intended or desired.
  • A persistent desire to use and/or unsuccessful attempts to moderate or quit.
  • Spending a great deal of time obtaining, using, and recovering from use.
  • Important activities are given up in favor of substance use.
  • Continued use despite knowledge of physical and/or psychological problem associated with that use.
  • Tolerance (needing more of the drug to get the same effect as before).
  • Withdrawal (unpleasant symptoms when you try to cut back or quit using).
