Bio Statement
Alexandra Ives takes pride in being highly involved on campus. By way of community service, Ives has engaged with the Prisoner Express at Cornell, IC’s Planned Parenthood Generation Action Chapter, and IC’s Eco Reps team. This scholar serves on the Executive Board of four different student organizations, including Tone Cold Acappella, on which Ives is the Treasurer. Through this club and the treasurer role within it, this scholar has been able to use music as a means of connection and outreach, organizing and hosting events to encourage collaboration across IC’s robust acappella community and donating funds from themed concerts to local organizations serving the greater Ithaca area, including Planned Parenthood and the Village at Ithaca. Being a part of this club has also allowed Ives to join in representing IC at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella.
Ives also serves on the Executive Board of IC’s student section of the Audio Engineering Society, through which students connect with professionals in the audio and music industry and have been able to attend the annual Audio Engineering Society Convention. Ives is also a section leader with the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers, a community choir meant to continue the legacy of Civil Rights activist Dorothy Cotton and promote the practice of African American spiritual music. Along with the aforementioned and several other unlisted organizations, Ives is also a member of IC’s Oracle Honor Society and Alpha Alpha Alpha Honor Society, a national organization for first-generation college students.
