On March 7, 2022, David H. Lissy ’87, Chair, Ithaca College Board of Trustees, announced that Dr. La Jerne Terry Cornish has been named the 10th president of Ithaca College.

After a comprehensive five-month nationwide search, assisted by one of the top higher education search firms in the country, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees voted unanimously to accept the recommendation of the presidential search committee to name Dr. Cornish as president.

The search committee included the elected leaders of the college’s Faculty, Staff, and Student Governance Councils and Alumni Association Board of Directors, as well as two additional faculty members, one dean, and eight trustees.

Cornish, who had been serving as interim president since August 30, 2021, began her new status as president immediately. She joined Ithaca College as provost and senior vice president for academic affairs in July of 2018 and was later named provost and executive vice president.
