Bio Statement
Preceding her high school graduation, Sade spent three weeks completing an internship at Innovative Health and Rehabilitation, where she gained essential insights into orthopedic, outpatient physical therapy. After arriving at Ithaca College, Sade has committed herself to many different clubs and student organizations. Sade is an active member of multiple student clubs of color, such as Sister 2 Sister, IC Students of the Caribbean Association, and Black Student Union. In Sister to 2 Sister, Sade attends weekly meetings where she and the members of S2S empower, inform, and encourage each other. In the IC Students of the Caribbean Association, Sade and other members have meaningful conversations about culture andcommunity within the Caribbean. Sade also currently serves as the Secretary of the First-Generation Club, working alongside her E-board members to unite and empower the first-gen population on Ithaca’s campus. This Fall Semester, the First-Generation Club hosted a successful First-Gen week where Keynote speaker, Saul Flores, delivered a tear-jerking, impactful speech to finish off the week's celebrations. Sade also continues to stay involved in her faith by attending Christian Community Church Leadership’s Bible study every Thursday. Sade plans to get more involved during the spring semester by filling a “forgotten” position on the Student Governance Council and being more involved in ICs PT Students of Color club.
What does it mean to be an IAP Scholar?
To me, being an IAP scholar means taking control of my future. Especially as a first-generation student, there are no footsteps for me to follow, so I must make my own, and print them deep enough into the earth to guide those after me.
