Doing It All Is Her Superpower
Addy ’27
One thing about my experience at IC is that I’ve done literally everything. I currently have six jobs listed in my student employment portal.
Addy ’27
At IC, Addy has embraced the freedom to try everything, ultimately pursuing academic programs in sociology, live event management, and entrepreneurship. That same enthusiasm carried her beyond the classroom, where she joined Pitch Please, an a cappella group, and IC Unbound, a student dance organization, among other activities.
Her live event management minor led her to ITHACON—one of the nation’s longest-running comic conventions held at Ithaca College. Ithacon is also a class where students take full ownership of producing and managing the event from start to finish.
Through MGMT 29800, led by Professor Ed Catto, Addy became a project leader and teaching assistant—learning to manage teams, make decisions, and trust her instincts. “He’d ask, ‘What do you think?’ and let me take the lead,” she says.
In her first year, Addy stepped into the fast-paced work of running the event, learning to manage teams, make decisions, and adapt in real time. The next year, she returned as a teaching assistant and brought with her a clearer perspective on what the experience demands. Through ITHACON, Addy developed skills she can apply across industries and in any environment, saying, “Ithacon is a real business and that hands-on experience is one of the things I love most.”
