Fall 2019 Ithaca Seminars - Course Descriptions

As a unique type of course dedicated to the first-semester experience at Ithaca College, all first-year students should register for and complete an Ithaca Seminar.

The links to the left provide course descriptions, schedules and other information to help you navigate the near-100 different Ithaca Seminar courses available to you.

When considering this diverse selection, there are three broad types or category of Ithaca Seminar to explore.

An Ithaca Seminar course

ICSM 10500 Most students will opt for an Ithaca Seminar course with the prefix ICSM 10500.

An Ithaca Seminar course that also fulfills our Academic Writing competency requirement

ICSM 10800 These writing-oriented Ithaca Seminars, with the prefix ICSM 10800, are designed for those who arrive at Ithaca College without AP credit for writing and who do not plan to register for WRTG 10600 Academic Writing (which also fulfills the Academic Writing requirement).

A dedicated Ithaca Seminar course for those accepted onto the Ithaca College Honors Program

ICSM 11000 or ICSM 11800 Courses with the prefix ICSM 11000 are dedicated Ithaca Seminars for students accepted onto the Honors Program. Courses with the prefix ICSM 11800 are dedicated Ithaca Seminars for students accepted onto the Honors Program, who arrive at Ithaca College without AP credit for writing and who do not plan to register for WRTG 10600 Academic Writing (which also fulfills the Academic Writing requirement).
