IC earns top-25 rankings for newspaper, radio, theatre, and conservation.

Princeton Review has once again named Ithaca College among the top higher education institutions in the country, with IC included in its 2026 edition of “The Best 391 Colleges.”

The education services company also ranks Ithaca College among the top 25 in the nation in four individual categories:

  • #9 Best College Newspaper
  • #12 Best College Theater
  • #20 Best College Radio Station
  • #25 Green Matters: Everyone Cares About Conservation

Only about 15% of America’s 2,400 four-year colleges are profiled in the guidebook. The Princeton Review chooses the colleges for the guide based on data it annually collects from surveys of college administrators about their institutions’ academic offerings, along with data from its surveys of students attending the schools who report on their experiences at their colleges.

"We are delighted to name Ithaca one of our Best Colleges for 2026 and to recommend it to students searching for their ‘best-fit’ college."

Rob Franek, Princeton Review editor in chief

“Ithaca College has outstanding academic programs and the feedback we received about the college from its students we surveyed was very impressive,” said Rob Franek, Princeton Review’s editor in chief. “We are delighted to name Ithaca one of our Best Colleges for 2026 and to recommend it to students searching for their ‘best-fit’ college.”

The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance presents a number of theatrical productions each year as part of a vibrant campus and local community theatre scene.

“Our programs have had a long tradition of guiding students as they develop their skills in the creation, performance, management, and interpretation of theatre and dance,” said Steve TenEyck, dean of the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance. “We are poised not only to envision and create theatre in both traditional and unexpected venues, but to prepare our students to conceive whatever form theatre may assume in the years to come.”

IC’s student-run newspaper, The Ithacan, and radio stations, 92-WICB and VIC Radio, are based in the Roy H. Park School of Communications. They routinely win regional and national awards for their comprehensive news and sports coverage.

“Our formula in the Park School for supporting student-led media organizations accompanied with mentorship by professional advisers works very well, as evidenced by the college media awards we regularly win,” said dean Amy Falkner. “Our ‘day one, you’re on’ philosophy applies inside and outside of the classroom as curricular and co-curricular activities are intertwined to give students as many opportunities as possible to practice and perform as soon as they set foot on campus.”

IC's commitment to conservation includes achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. It continually strives to integrate sustainability into academic offerings and operations, with many of its efforts powered by the Ithaca College Fund for a Sustainable Future.

“Ithaca College is proud to be an active player in sustainability actions both on campus and in the greater Ithaca community,” said Scott Doyle ’98, director of energy management and sustainability. “We pride ourselves in refining our understanding of the impacts of climate change in classrooms across each of our five diverse schools and further implementing college actions that help the community adapt and reduce adverse impacts.”

Students surveyed for the guide noted the small class sizes that afford plenty of personal attention, the opportunities to pursue interests that are not necessarily part of their chosen course of study, and the picturesque beauty of the campus setting. They praised the faculty for being both engaging and passionate about their fields, which helps get students excited about their studies as well.
