Important Updates Regarding Parent, Family, and Supporter Orientation

This year Parent, Family, and Supporter Orientation will take place virtually and in person. More information regarding these sessions and their content will be available in the coming weeks. Topics covered will include supporting your student's wellness, tips for helping your student transition to IC, and meeting with representatives from your student's school.

  • Virtual sessions:
    • Learn about Mental Health Resources!, Friday, August 8 from noon–1 p.m. E.T. - Hear from Counseling and Psychological Services, the Center for Health Promotion, and the Office of ICare and Student Support to discover how much support your students have here at IC.

    • Campus Safety - This session will be pre-recorded and available on this webpage shortly! Hear from the Office of Public Safety and representatives in Residential Life to explore safety on campus. More information will posted shortly!

  • In-person sessions: Aug. 18 & 20, 3-5 p.m.
    • Just Between Us, 3-3:45 p.m (A&E Center) - "Just Between Us" is a session specifically for parents and families, hosted by Dean of Student Success, Elizabeth Bleicher. This session provides straight talk, insider intel, and practical strategies to help families support their students during the transition to college. It also includes a "Worst Idea Hall of Fame," highlighting common mistakes parents can avoid.
    • Academic Sessions, 4-5 p.m. (various locations) - Attend a welcome from the deans and meet with faculty and staff from your student's academic department.
